Pork Goulash with Dumplings

Uncategorized | January 29, 2011 | By

On these cold winter’s days, you need something warming and substantial for your dinner, so when I saw this Pork Goulash with Dumplings in BBC Good Food Magazine, I thought it would be just the thing. It also allowed me to use up some vegetarian suet I had in the cupboard and a chance to use the smoked paprika my son bought me for Christmas.

It was very good and very easy to make.  Having the dumplings meant there was no need for potatoes or rice and I served it with braised red cabbage loosely based on Nigella’s recipe in Feast.

Those kind people at the BBC have also put this recipe on their website, which save me from typing it all out again, you can find it HERE
You will note that their dumplings are much smaller and a neater than mine, but I expect they tasted much the same!

Ooh, lovely dumplings! I love these – reminds me of a trip to Prague, washed down with the local beer. The added red cabbage looks great side, too.

How strange – I have just been working on my next post (but one) which will be for Goulash with Caraway flavoured Dumplings! Wonderful and warming for cold weather and you are right, they make a great alternative to potatoes.

Dumplings make everything better, and best of all everyone in my family loves them.

Yum! I adore dumplings but for some reason I never get around to making them. But this looks delicious. Just the thing to make you appreciate January!

Goulash is new to me. Looks like a stew. The dumplings always intrigued me but looks very delicious. I have not tried the red cabbage yet, except in salad. Must try one day. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

What a great post for a winter meal. Your stew and dumplings really sound perfect for a gray Oregon day. I hope you have a great weekend. Blessings…Mary

I love Nigella! This looks so delicious– nice, hardy winter fare. I love anything that involves anything resembling a biscuit 🙂
