The BBC Good Food Show Team have been scouring Glasgow in association with BBC Good Food to search for the city’s Best Independent Food Shop. Following an arduous application and judging process the deserving winner has been confirmed as:
After counting and reviewing customer nominations, the shortlist of ten shops was announced. For the first time this year, shops were also voted for on Twitter and Instagram, the shop with the most votes was automatically shortlisted. Following this, a mystery shopping exercise was performed by some of the Glasgow’s best food bloggers and members of the judging panel. Judges scored each shop on a range of criteria including quality and value of produce and customer service. Roots Fruits and Flowers stood out as a clear winner of the coveted title of Glasgow’s Best Independent Food Shop.
Roots Fruits and Flowers offers a well-priced range of high quality international and local produce. The Delicatessen provides freshly made, in store food with an ever changing seasonal menu. It uses the best ingredients from their Wholefoods & Organic and Fruit & Vegetable Merchants to produce a large selection of the freshest hot and cold dishes.
Catriona Banks, Speciality Food Manager, BBC Good Food Shows says, “There was such a huge range of nominations that made this a really difficult choice. Roots Fruits and Flowers were a standout entry due to their fantastic range of goods and buzzing atmosphere. The judges were so impressed with the visit – the shop looked lovely and the staff were fantastically helpful. I’m sure this will be a really beautiful, popular stand with visitors at the Show!”
The Winner receives a stand at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland at the SECC from 6 – 8 November, publicising their business to thousands of food loving visitors.
I’ll be posting about the BBC Good Food Show on Instagram and Twitter @FarmersgirlCook on Friday 6th November, giving you insider information about the show, I hope you’ll join me.
