Summer Harvest Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil – Perthshire
The family at Summer Harvest has been farming the green hills of the Strathearn Valley Perthshire for over 130 years, the last fifty of them on Ferneyfold Farm just ten miles north of Gleneagles between Perth and Crieff.
Everything needed to make the perfect bottle of Summer Harvest is found on Ferneyfold’s 400 acres – they grow all of their own crops, press all of their oil and watch every finished bottle leave by the same farm road used to reach the barns and the fields.
Every bottle of Summer Harvest contains a little bit of Perthshire and a great deal of Ferneyfold love and attention.
I’m already well acquainted with the delicious and healthy rapeseed oils from Summer Harvest. I particularly like the Oak Smoked Oil, but recently tried the Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil with White Truffle. I’ve had truffle oils before and not been terribly impressed by them as I felt they overpowered the food I had prepared. However, I am really enjoying this oil, I drizzled a teaspoonful over a dish of mashed potatoes and it transformed them into a really special accompaniment to a baked ham. You can find them at Stand C47 of the BBC Good Food Show Scotland.
Ochil Fudge Pantry – Falkirk
Ochil Fudge Pantry was started by a Scottish Lass and a Yorkshire lass, when one day they found a tin of condensed milk in the back of a cupboard and decided to make some fudge and found everyone loved it. Since then Ochil Fudge Pantry was born. They hand craft proper fudge in small batches, with every batch being hand beaten to Ochil Fudge smoothness.
